CHANDIGARH:Describing hooch tragedy unfortunate, Punjab Social Security, Women and Child Development Mrs. Aruna Chaudhary today said that Punjab Police is very much capable to crack down the entire case. She said that Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has already ordered the suspension of seven excise officials and six policemen with immediate effect and initiated an inquiry against them besides giving strict orders to state police to bring the guilty to justice.
CHANDIGARH: As the death toll in the hooch tragedy rose to 80, the Punjab Police on Saturday arrested 17 more persons in a massive crackdown spanning more than 100 raids in the three affected districts of Amritsar Rural, Gurdaspur and Tarn Taran, along with several other places in and around Rajpura and Shambhu border. The total number of arrests in the case has gone up to 25.
CHANDIGARH:Even as the toll in the hooch tragedy rose to 38, Punjab Police on Friday arrested seven more bootleggers from Amritsar, Batala and Tarn Taran districts in over 40 raids conducted by five teams led by senior officers.
